What Is the Dream Catcher Live Game?

So, what exactly is a prize-wheel-style game? Why is Evolution making this type of live game?

You might have noticed similar vertically mounted wheel-prize games at your town’s local raffle (assuming those are still a thing). They’re also quite popular in many land-based casinos. Basically, Evolution saw an opportunity and took it, in what turned out to be good news for both us and them.

First of Its Kind!

While popular elsewhere, according to Evolution Gaming, Dream Catcher was the first online and live version of a prize wheel game. It was released in 2017 and has since practically created a whole new category of live games. Players love it for the simplicity and straightforwardness of the gameplay, not to mention those theoretically unlimited bonus multipliers!

Dream Catcher Rules – How to Play Dream Catcher Live

One of Dream Catcher’s defining characteristics is its simplicity. Gameplay is a breeze to get the hang of, as things are laid out neatly and intuitively. The aim of the game is to place bets on the numbers which the wheel will then land on.

As you might expect from a title by Evolution, the production value for the live stream of this game is through the roof. The game is streamed in HD, brought to you by professional and knowledgeable hosts that bring a fun and lively atmosphere to the whole experience.

The wheel itself is multicoloured and has 54 different segments along with a piece of leather on top, acting as a selector. The physical wheel is custom built by TCSJOHNHUXLEY, the leading supplier of casino machines.

All good so far? Let’s get down to the finer details of how this game works.

Of the 54, 52 segments are available to bet on. You can place your stake on 6 different numbers: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 40. The larger the number, the less segments there will be on the wheel to represent it. This means it’s more difficult to win using the larger numbers, but the payout is correspondingly higher.

The payout corresponds to the number itself, which makes things ultra-simple! Betting on a 20, for example, means that if you win, you will get a payout 20x your bet. You will, of course, be winning back your bet too, so wins with a 1x payout are still profitable.

Dream Catcher Bonus

While Dream Catcher does not necessarily have a bonus round, two of the 54 segments mentioned earlier do provide bonus multipliers to players. One of the 2 segments provides a 2x multiplier to the following spin, while the other segment provides a 7x multiplier.

The multipliers are also stackable. For example, if the wheel lands on two 7x multipliers in sequence, the next win will have a 49× multiplier applied! There is no limit to the number of times the multipliers can stack, meaning that you could theoretically stack right up to the win limit!

What are the Dream Catcher Wheel Odds?

Take a look at the table below for a more in-depth look at the odds for each number.

Table with the odds for Dream Catcher Wheel

As shown above, the chance of landing a number has an inverse relationship with its payout. The larger the payout, the rarer it is.

What Is the Dream Catcher RTP Rate?

The rarity of a number also has an interesting relationship with RTP, although this is not as clear-cut. The RTP here reflects the theoretical Return to Player rate – if you decide to bet on the same number for hundreds of thousands of spins.

Of course, players rarely bet in this way. The whole point of there being different numbers is for you to go for rarer ones if you feel like taking the risk, or more common ones if you’d like to play it safe.

You can still see, though, that in the long run, betting on ‘10’ will yield the highest theoretical return to player. A close second place goes to the number ‘2’.

Dream Catcher Volatility

Volatility describes the amount of variation from the theoretical RTP that you can expect for any particular spin. This is directly related with the amount of risk a particular game requires from its players. It helps to give you an idea of what kind of gameplay you can expect from a game.

Like RTP, Dream Catcher’s volatility changes based on which numbers you bet on.

  • If betting on the smaller numbers, the game will have a lower volatility, since they are more common. Just like low-volatility slots, however, the payouts will be low.
  • If you’re betting on the larger numbers, the volatility will be much higher. It will be rarer and more difficult for you to land a win, but if you do, it will be much larger.

This type of set-up provides an interesting way to play. Both adventurous and non-risky players can play with completely different playstyles on the same exact game, experimenting without having to commit a whole session to a specific volatility level.

Dream Catcher Minimum & Maximum Bets

The minimum and maximum bets allowed for Dream Catcher live depend on the casino carrying the game. We can still give a general idea, though.

Most times, casinos will set the Dream Catcher minimum bet as small as 10p/c. On the other hand, the max bet is generally between €/$/£1,000-€/$/£5,000.

This is quite the range, allowing any type of player to try their hand at this prize wheel. That said, we recommend you check out the specific casinos limits before placing any bets. This’ll make sure you’re not in for any surprises you weren’t ready for!

Dream Catcher Maximum Win

So, let’s say you do manage to stack more than a couple of multipliers on top of each other, and played on the winning bet. What’s the maximum win the game allows you to have? The answer is a limit of €/$/£500,000!

This’ll be tough to get to, no doubt, but it is possible. We’re of the opinion that it’s enough to catch anyone’s dreams!

Dream Catcher Casino Strategy

It’s important to keep in mind that Dream Catcher is still a game of chance. This means that there are no sure-fire ways to win. With that said though, you could do a couple of things to improve your odds.

As we mentioned earlier, for the best possible odds long term, the number ‘10’ seems to provide the smallest house edge. This in turn means that it’ll provide players with the highest RTP this game has to offer – that of 96.58%. Going for this route also provides players with gameplay that feels like a medium-volatility slot, seeing as the ‘10’ lies between the two available extremes.

If you’ve got a smaller bankroll, we recommend that you play on some of the smaller and more common numbers. This improves your chances of making back, or at least minimising any losses that you might experience.

Only players with larger and more well-padded bankrolls should go for the rarer and more volatile options. This of course doesn’t just apply to Dream Catcher, but is a good rule to stick to regarding any casino game.

Pros & Cons

As with any casino title, there will be high and low points to the gameplay offered. Dream Catcher’s simple set-up can be both a blessing and a curse. While it’s extremely easy to grasp, it can feel like it’s missing some extra spice at the same time. The stackable multipliers are a great addition, though, as they tighten and raise the excitement dramatically! We also really welcome that the game allows for both riskier players as well those who like to play it safe.

Pros

  • Simple and fun gameplay
  • Stackable multipliers
  • Generous maximum win
  • Multiple playstyles enabled

Cons

  • Lacking multiple bonus features
  • Rare largest payout win

Dream Catcher Live Casino Summary

An exciting title from Evolution, Dream Catcher practically set the stage for a whole new category of live casino games. It deserves points for that alone!

Not to mention the exciting stackable multipliers and that all-too-alluring 40x win at the top of the betting range! All of that, in a fun and simple package that’s accessible to anyone, regardless of their preferred playstyle. We seriously think this game is worth at least a couple of spins – who knows, maybe Evolution has delivered all you you have ever dreamed of as a casino fan!
