Japan Passes Countermeasure Bill to Solve Problem Gambling

Japan IR BillThe Integrated Resorts (IR) Implementation Bill of Japan has faced a lot of criticism and opposition from the people and press. The reason being people are concerned that once the casino industry becomes functional and fully fledged, it would give rise to problem gambling in the country.

To get rid of these concerns and worries of the people and to pass the IR Bill, the legislators in Japan have introduced “Gambling Countermeasure Bill”. This new bill is a complete solution to all the issues of problem gambling in Japan.

The Japanese legislators have passed the “Gambling Countermeasure Bill” and have paved the way for the Integrated Resorts Bill for final review by Upper House last Friday. This new bill was passed with little or no opposition after receiving a vote of 183-46 in the Parliament.

The Countermeasure Bill as the name suggests will address all the concerns of problem gambling and other problem that might crop up after the regularisation of the casino industry in Japan.

The regulated gambling industry would undoubtedly see a steep rise of problem gamblers and the new bill would look into such problems. This countermeasure bill will address all the related issues and offer a complete solution so that people don’t get addicted to gambling.

The Countermeasure Bill has received last-minute additions before reaching the home stretch. There are 11 supplementary resolutions in this new bill to ensure the anti-gambling measures are thoroughly studies and implemented later on.

Some of the supplementary resolutions in the Countermeasure Bill look promising and good. It delves deeper into the problem gambling and how to counteract the gambling addiction amongst players. At the same time, the bill outlines how the Japanese government should handle the problem gamblers.

In addition to the above, there would be educational campaigns to create awareness about gaming addiction and the bill would ensure that such campaigns are implemented successfully.

IR Bill Likely to Pass in Parliament before July 22

Now that the Integrated Resorts Bill is finally presented in the Parliament of Japan, the government can now start their debate on this bill. The discussion is likely to commence from July 10, and it is hoped the bill would be heavily discussed and debated by the members of the Parliament. The Japanese government is more than confident that the new bill would be passed before July 22.

The lower house of Japan's Parliament has passed the IR Bill, and now it is the turn of the upper house to vote on it. The coalition government holds the maximum majority in the upper house, and there does not seem to be any problem for the bill to get rejected.

With the implementation of IR Bill, the government would issue three license for the starting of three Integrated Resorts Casinos in the country.
