Donaco International Signs an Agreement Deal with Poker King Club

Star Vegas Resort and ClubDonaco International Ltd; a casino operator in South East Asia; has entered into an agreement with a gaming company called Kings Consulting Ltd in order to host poker tournaments at Star Vegas which is a flagship property of Donaco.

Star Vegas is located in the border area of Poipet in Cambodia and draws a lot of customers from Thailand; a country where gambling is prohibited.

Kings Consulting Ltd is a part of Suncity Group which is one of the VIP junket operators of Macau and it also owns the Poker King Club brand.

A representative of Donaco while speaking to the media made the following statement:

Under the deal, Poker King Club will stage a minimum of three international poker tournaments at the Star Vegas, under a range of potential brands, including the Thailand legs of the Asian Poker Tour and World Poker Tour. The parties will conduct joint marketing campaigns for the tournaments, including marketing to Poker King Club’s network of players across Asia and globally.

According to the company, all the costs and revenue pertaining to the tournaments will be shared between the two. The deal is likely to be finalised in the month of July 2017. Donaco said that the agreement was one of the measures in order to improve utilisation of available capacity at Star Vegas.

The visitation to the Star Vegas Casino from the neighbouring countries is also likely to boost after the partnership. Donaco was also in the news when it signed up with Manchester United; a British Soccer Giant which is extremely popular in Thailand. Poker King Club holds tournaments and cash games and operates 3 poker games at the moment – Maison Glad Hotel Jeju, Solaire Resort and Casino in Manila and Venetian Macao Casino Resort. Till date, 40 tournaments across Asia are organised by this brand.

Donaco operates a series of different entertainment and leisure businesses in Asia. As per the latest financial results, Donaco has registered EBITDA of A$56.7 million or US$42.8 million for the 9 months ending 31st March, a 10.5% over the same period last year. The strong growth has been accredited to improved performance of its Aristo International Casino and Star Vegas in Q1 2017.

Between January and March 2017, Star Vegas recorded EBITDA of THB566.6 million or US$16.4 million. It shows a 47.1% increase on Y-O-Y because of strong VIP gross win rate. Donaco said that the revenue is boosted after the return of VIP high rollers to casinos after the 100 days royal mourning period in Thailand after the demise of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
