Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ Design & Gameplay

(Source: Microgaming)
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ builds on the design of its predecessors from the series, utilising the same bank heist theme with an abundance of green banknotes scattered across the game’s layout. The Megaways™ set-up is quite standard too, with 6 central reels taking up the majority of the screen.
Above these 6 reels is a horizontal reel spanning reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. These central 4 reels show up to 6 symbols each, while the outer reels (1 & 6) show up to 7. In addition to the extra 4 symbols provided by the top reel – this makes for a maximum of 117,649 ways to win!
As such, we can say that in practice the reels behave as if they were a simple 6×7 set-up – one that is found in a ton of other games in our extensive Megaways™ slots list.
Visual and Sound Design
As we brushed upon earlier, the background of the game gives you the impression that you’re inside some high-security bank vault. It’s full of green banknotes neatly stacked all over the large room’s floor. Front and centre, the reels are bordered with white marble columns and statuettes, giving the feel of a high-stakes national bank full of money!
The sound design is quite excellent too, with a bass-guitar-led track that’s genuinely pleasant to listen to, especially when it occasionally breaks into some of the more melodic sections. It’s vaguely got the feel of the Pink Panther theme, which is apt considering the whole game’s about a bank heist.
There’s also some clear 70s classic rock influence in the bassline too, although we can’t quite pin which particular track it’s trying to emulate. If you manage to land a few larger wins, the backing music will even add in a flute section alongside the rest of the track. This really reminded us of some Jethro Tull song – top points here!
Playing Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ – Symbols and Payouts
So what about what’s actually spinning on those reels? Symbols for this game consist of a 10 to Ace Royals for the lower-paying tier. This is quite a common trope, and while it doesn’t exactly fit the theme, we can’t really say we’re surprised.

(Source: Microgaming)
The higher-paying symbols are much more fitting to the theme, as is the case most of the time. There are Coin Stacks, Bank Cheques, Cash Bills, and Gold Ingots for the first four.
The highest-paying symbol is the Purple Gemstone, which pays 15x for 6-of-a-kind! If our quick internet search has any worth, the gemstone’s apparently an amethyst – sparkly!
Of course, there are also a few additional special symbols that you should keep an eye out for. There’s the multiplier wild symbol, easily recognised by the large ‘5x’ it shows off. This will substitute for any of the game’s symbols (of course, except scatters) and also apply a 5x win multiplier! It only appears on the top, extra horizontal reel during the base game.
Apart from the wild symbol, there are also scatter symbols you should be looking out for. Three or more of these symbols will net you some free spins and pay out twice your bet!
- 3 Scatter Symbols = 10 Free Spins + Pay 2x Bet
- 4 Scatter Symbols = 15 Free Spins + Pay 2x Bet
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ Features
We’re sure you’re wondering what you can expect in the way of features for this game. Well, fear not! There’s a nice mix of Megaways™ classic hallmarks and interesting additional features on this title.
Rolling Reels

(Source: Microgaming)
First off, we have the ever popular and practically ever-present Rolling Reels feature. In different games, this feature adopts different names – Cascading Reels, Cascades, Tumbles, and so on. They are all the same feature, with a simple and popular mechanic.
The symbols making up winning combinations are removed from the reels, allowing more to fall from above. This means that more combinations can potentially be made for a single spin, allowing for more wins!
Multiplier Wilds
We mentioned earlier the Multiplier Wilds feature in the symbols section. It’s worth acknowledging that it’s not all that common to find a 5x multiplier attached to all Wild Symbols. As such, we think this is a worthy addition to add to the game’s feature list.
Multiplier Wilds can really add that extra kick to an already great combination. Do keep in mind, though, that Multiplier Wilds can only show up on the top horizontal reel, which means they might be a little bit tougher to come by than your standard Megaways™ Wild Symbol.
Free Spins
Next up is everybody’s favourite game section: free spins! The Free Spins section for this game can be accessed through the base game by landing three or more of the special Scatter Symbols we covered earlier.
What’s interesting is that getting free spins also comes with an additional perk: a payout with a 2x multiplier on the bet that landed the scatters. It seems that Break Da Bank Megaways™ is all about multipliers!
During the Free Spins section of the game, you can land even more scatter symbols for additional Free Spins!
- 1 Scatter in Free Spins = 1 Additional Free Spin
- 2 Scatters in Free Spins = 2 Additional Free Spins
- 3 Scatters in Free Spins = 10 Additional Free Spins
- 4 Scatters in Free Spins = 15 Additional Free Spins
It’s worth bearing in mind that Free Spins Scatter Symbols only show up on Reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. Apart from that, once you’ve landed your way into the Free Spins feature, there’s a multiplier that progresses by one with each consecutive win! We did say this game is all about multipliers, didn’t we? There’s more where that came from!
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ Bonus Buy Free Spins
You can also buy your way into the Free Spins section. All the same rules and regulations for the regular Free Spins apply here, so you won’t be missing out or gaining anything by opting to buy into the feature.
Note: Bonus Buy Free Spins might not be allowed in your region, so it might be worth checking for limitations first.
Hot Mode Free Spins
Undoubtedly the standout feature for this game is the Hot Mode Free Spins. This feature can be applied randomly if you land 4 Scatter symbols – that is 15 Free Spins. Once these are triggered, there is a chance that a massive 20x starting multiplier will be applied to the Free Spins section. Now that’s what we’d call hot!
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ RTP, Max Win, Volatility
Let’s get down to those all-important specifications. These numbers should really give you an idea for the feel of the game before you even play it!
RTP
The Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ RTP is a bog-standard 96.05%. This is very normal for this kind of slot, so you’ll find absolutely no surprises here. Of course, we do wish it was higher, but that doesn’t reduce the overall game quality in any way.
Max Win
The Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ max win is 19,560x your bet. In relative terms, this is pretty middle-of-the-road too, but it’s no less exciting if you reach it! While we’re quite sure you wouldn’t turn this sort of win down, we did find it quite ironic that it’s not at least slightly higher, considering the theme of this particular title.
Volatility
It’s important to note too, that volatility for this game is high to very high. This means that you will absolutely encounter dry spells and long times between significant wins, and that you’ll want to have a well-padded bankroll if you plan on playing.
Minimum & Maximum Bets
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ has a minimum bet of 20p, with its maximum bet set at £20. That’s quite a good range for most punters, although we’d have thought the maximum limit would have been a little higher considering the high volatility.
Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ Mobile Play
Thing are run-of-the-mill here too, but in this case it’s not a downside at all! Just like all the games in our Megaways™ Catalogue, Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™ is fully compatible with all mobile devices and operating systems. Whether it’s your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop and whether they’re Android, iOS, Windows or macOS, this game will run smoothly and seamlessly.
How to Play Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™
The Megaways™ mechanic is easy to grasp and get used to, and so are the controls for Break Da Bank Again™ Megaways™. Winning combinations are made with three or more symbols (two or more in the case of the Amethyst Gemstone) starting from reel 1.
Controls for this game are found along the bottom edge of the game screen. Starting from the left, you’ll find what’s called a hamburger menu (three parallel lines on top of each other), which will give you options for bet selection, the settings, and paytable, as well as more in-depth game info.
Next to that is a sound mute button, to the left of which you’ll find more direct access to bet selection. Your bet is displayed between up and down arrows to its right and left respectively.
Finally, at the far bottom right of the game screen, you’ll find a large orange spin button. You’ll no doubt get well-acquainted with this button, as curiously we couldn’t find any autospin options for this game.
