Gery Chico Proposes a New Casino Site in Chicago City

new casino chicagoChicago is going through tough times and struggling financially. The city requires an extra $1 billion if it wants to fund the public pension successfully. It is indeed a lot of money for Chicago to come up within such a short span of time. A lot of this responsibility now lies on the shoulders of the next mayor of the city.

Gery Chico is running for the next mayor elections for the city of Chicago. He recently met with the supporters and the general public at City Club of Chicago. During the brief meeting, he outlined few plans for the city, if he is voted as the next mayor.

He has directly addressed the financial troubles for the Chicago and has suggested few solutions how the city can go ahead and raise $1 billion if it wants to fund the public pension.

One of the solutions recommended by Chico is to set up a new casino in the city which has been in discussion and debates with the state legislators since 2011. The proposal for a new casino site continues to be in air and Chico is quite confident that if he is elected as the next Mayor, he would undoubtedly get the ball moving in his court. As per his estimates, the new casino in Chicago could generate as high as $300 million yearly.

Gery Chico, the 62 years old attorney earlier run for the post of the mayor but has not been successful yet. But this time, he is confident and hopes to get elected as the next mayor of Chicago.

Chico is confident about delivering his promise this time and has enough things to bring to the table. He wants to legalise marijuana in the city and hopes that the industry could generate revenue somewhere between $350 and $700 million every year. A significant amount of money from the income can go to the city coffers collected in the form of taxes.

Will Chico Deliver on New Casino Approval?

The talks about expanding the gambling bill in the state and a new casino approval in the city of Chicago have done the rounds in the past. The approval was most recently struck down by the Illinois House Committee in May this year.

Chico is confident that he could easily push forward with the above plans and is quite optimistic about it. For one, he is one of the 14 candidates running for the post of Mayor, and he has a good chance of getting voted in. People are hopeful that he will deliver his promises.

The promise to open a new casino in Chicago city is a difficult task as the Illinois Gaming Association is worried about the gaming market saturation. The body is not very keen and uninterested to approve a new casino in Chicago.
