The Phantom of the Opera: Link & Win Review
Lovers of the gothic will be right at home when they sit down to play The Phantom of the Opera: Link & Win demo. The game is themed around Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s beloved musical version of The Phantom of the Opera, and your spinning will be accompanied by music from the show.
While there are other slot games that take this classic story as their theme, this offering from Triple Edge Studios stands out nonetheless.
Phantom of the Opera: Link & Win takes place on a grid with three rows and five reels. The symbols fit the gothic theme and contain a mixture of regular and special varieties. Allow us to examine each symbol in turn…

Symbols
- The low-value symbols are, as per tradition, themed around playing cards: J, Q, K, and A.
- The higher-value symbols are a curious assortment that include a rose, a set of candlesticks, a monkey with cymbals, and, the most valuable of all the standard symbols – the dashing hero of the story, Viscount Raoul de Chagny. Indeed – and rather curiously – the heroine Christine is absent from the grid.
The Wild symbol, which is characterised by a photograph of the Phantom, doesn’t just replace all other symbols in a winning combination…
- The Wild is worth 500x if you manage to land a set of five on a payline.
- In an affective touch, the Scatter symbol is designed to resemble a letter of invitation from the Phantom — complete with a skull-shaped wax seal.
Landing three or more Scatters will award you 10 free spins, which are played in the gloomy catacombs rather than the glittering opera house. In this feature, the grid will start out with Jumbo Blocks that take up 3×3 squares on the grid, but which split into nine when the round is over and it is time for the lines to be calculated.
But there’s more: if you happen to land a Scatter symbol during the free spins, then you will be able to begin the Free Spins round anew!
Link & Win
The other special feature and the one that gives the game its name is the Link & Win aspect.
During the game, you will turn up symbols showing the Phantom’s mask. These are attached to either prize multipliers (ranging from 1.5x to 20x) or jackpots (Mini, Minor and Major), with each one having its value clearly labelled.
You will need to land at least six of these Mask symbols to trigger the Link & Win feature, but trust us, it’s worth it!
When this happens, the Mask symbols will lock in place for the whole round, while all the other symbols will be replaced by blank squares. You will then be given a limited number of spins with which to potentially land more Mask symbols and win big: the maximum you can bag in Phantom of the Opera Link & Win is 12,500x your bet.
One thing we don’t like, however, is that the game's theme fades somewhat during this round, with the opera house and catacombs replaced by a generic background showing playing card symbols and dollar bills.
Phantom of the Opera Link & Win Slot Verdict
Phantom of the Opera Link & Win puts its rock-opera source to good use and provides a solid game with a few novel twists into the bargain. Even if you do not feel like risking real money, you can always play The Phantom of the Opera Link & Win for free.
