The Oldest Casino of Las Vegas Golden Gate Reopens After Major Renovation

Golden Gate CasinoThe Golden Gate Casino in Las Vegas reopened on 25th of August 2017 after extensive renovation work. It is to be noted that the casino was closed for a brief period from 20th to 25th of August to complete the expansion work.

It is a 111-year-old casino resort that has been significantly expanded with a second-floor casino with an extended outdoor bar and a stunning 360 degree 24 foot LCD television tower that is stylized as a fountain.

At the entrance of the casino, a large spiral crystal chandelier is put which is just from the Fremont Street Experience site.

In the renovation process, the interiors have been upgraded like new carpet, fixtures, restrooms renovation and a new site for its loyalty card signups.

Derek Stevens who is the CEO of Golden Gate made the following statement:

Since opening in 1906 as Hotel Nevada, Golden Gate has played a key role in the growth and success of Downtown Las Vegas. We are thrilled to continue Golden Gate’s incredible narrative and evolution, while also contributing to the area’s ongoing revitalization. This old-meets-new design creates a thrilling nostalgic feel evoking the spirit of the Rat Pack era with the excitement of our modern world.

For the extensive support and cooperation, the CEO thanked Bob Coffin who is the Councilman of Las Vegas City Council. It is interesting to note that it is the 2nd significant expansion that has been undertaken in the past 50 years for the oldest casino in Las Vegas. The earlier renovation project was completed in the year 2012 that includes five famous hotel tower and updated lobby with the exterior.

The gaming area time has been further increased with almost 100 new slots being added. Popular OneBar has been expanded by 20 feet, and it will be one of the longest bars in the city of Las Vegas. It will feature entertaining bartenders, external television and frozen drinks. The recent renovation has given the casino an entirely different entry façade facing the Fremont Street.

The Fremont Street Experience features dazzling velvet drapes creating a stunning entry point and invokes a sense of vintage Vegas glamour. The design has been made by taking inspirations from Jazz Age with curtains having a golden medallion that further enhances the experience while making an entry to Golden Gate casino. However, the company did not reveal the cost of the renovation.

The CEO of Golden Gate pointed out they are working on another project in Fremont Street which is situated in the vicinity of the casino. For the construction of new casino resort, they would have to demolish the Las Vegas Club.
