Thailand Authorities Shut Down Unlicensed Slot555.com

In a recent incident, the Bangkok Authorities have announced putting an end to the illegal operation of Slot555.com across 4 different provinces with 11 arrests.

It includes the arrest of the alleged ringleader named Wasan Kaosa-art. The culprits behind this illegal gambling ring are put behind bars and expecting significant years in jail time.

The server of the gambling website was located in Bueng Kim district of Bangkok. However, as per media reports, Wasan was carrying out many illegal gambling websites apart from Slot555.com. This online casino realm has attracted players in tens of thousands in numbers to play a wide range of casino games.

It is reported that the online gamblers have lost around 103 million in local Thai Baht which is equivalent to $3.2 million. The illegal money was channelled to the family members of Wasan in Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri and Samut Sakhon. The family members had multiple bank accounts through which money was transferred at regular intervals of time.

The police authorities have identified Chatchai Saenkaew as the alleged programmer for Wasan. He was the primary person behind facilitating the online money transaction across multiple accounts and looked after the maintenance of the gambling sites and other technical details.

He is absconding, and police are searching for his whereabouts. The gambling website Slot555.com appeared several media social channels of Thailand with images of famous models, actress and other celebrities for luring the innocent players.

Wasan, as well as the conspirators, are charged with crimes like money laundering, illegal gambling and conspiracy. Around 3 million Baht in overall assets are seized from the syndicate. The Thai authorities have confiscated a mini cooper card, two bikes, seven smartphones, bank accounts and other valuable items.

The Rise in Illegitimate Online Gambling

Thailand is known for its strict and stringent anti-gambling regulation throughout Asia. In the recent times, the country is spooked with many illegal gambling incidents especially in the wake of Fifa 2018 World Cup Football. The concerned authorities are prompted to step up and crackdown the unlawful gaming websites.

Till now, they have shut down around 750 illegal gambling rings throughout the country by working together with several government organisations. The officials of Thailand are also dealing with so-called Net Pretties who use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to promote illegal wagering.

Online gambling by law is a felony as it associated with money laundering. It is detrimental to the economic system and leads the public and young people astray.
