Light & Wonder (formerly Scientific Games) looks set to take on the modern slots market with Revenge of the Mountain King — a fantasy-themed video slot that's gorgeous to look at and great to play. In fact, we’re sure it will be a hit with followers of our online slot reviews list.
For now, we don’t know much about the game, but experienced punters may be familiar with the original Rise of the Mountain King slot. This classic title achieved legendary status and already had a sequel in the form of Reign of the mountain King. While the first sequel had a mediocre response, it looks like Revenge of the Mountain King might be just what modern punters are looking for.
This version of the game looks promising. In screenshots released by Light & Wonder, we can see that it's beautifully designed and comes with a whole cast of characters (and card suit symbols) making up the paytable. These include the Mountain King, an Elven princess, trolls, goblins, as well as shields, axes, and gems.
Like its predecessors, this game will probably have Edvard Grieg’s iconic composition ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King‘ as inspiration. Presumably, it will include some of this classic composer’s music as well; so, expect to hear the earie yet comical tune as part of the soundtrack.
While we don’t know how much the volatility, max win, RTP, or the bet range will be, if this game is anything like the previous versions, it will have a high volatility, wins of up to 50,000x, and an RTP of 96% or more.
Revenge of the Mountain King Slot Features
Although we don’t have the full details yet, we can deduce several things about this slot’s features from the screenshots provided.
- Free Spins: It looks like the game will feature free spins (up to 88 of them?).
- Bonus buy: On the screenshot released by Light & Gaming, there seems to be a “Buy Pass” icon, which can presumably be used to buy the free spins or bonus round.
- Multipliers: One of the screenshots shows that there are multipliers of up to 5x.
To Spin or Not To Spin?
We still have to test this game for ourselves, but we predict it is going to be one of the best games of the first Quarter of 2023. Revenge of the Mountain King looks like it has great graphics and several innovative features, with the artwork looking similar to modern mobile fantasy games. If it is anything like its predecessors, it will have a modern take on the classical piece as part of its soundtrack.
