GambleAware & Citizens Advice Partner to Fix Problem Gambling

Citizens Advice and GambleAware PartnershipIn the recent times, the entire nation of the United Kingdom is inflicted with the disease of problem gambling. It is turning out to be a matter of grave concern and to fix the problem; Citizens Advice and GambleAware have come together to form a partnership to tackle this issue.

Both these organisations are chalking out plans to invest a whopping 1.5 million in creating awareness, educating, preventing and eradicate the problems of gambling in the country.

Citizens Advice is having a network of more than 300 independent charities under its belt all over the UK offering free information and helping hand to people suffering due to the scarcity of money and other legal problems.

This joint partnership to eradicate problem gambling will benefit 9 regions of England, and it is also aimed at establishing a chain of regional support hubs. Proper training will be provided to frontline staff working in various fields to recognise problem gambling among people and to offer appropriate support to the victims.

GambleAware has been making the news for being at the forefront to combat gambling-related harms in the country. In this regard, it has been generating a large amount of money as voluntary charity from several organisations over the past 12 months.

The joint partnership came after GambleAware announced to support new research on the issue of problem gambling and the project has received the support and backing from the UK Gambling Commission.

Proper Training for Front Line Staff

Dr Jane Rigbye, Director of GambleAware, says that the debt advice workforce would contribute a lot to curtailing the people inflicted with problem gambling.

She is of the opinion that proper training should be given to the public facing staff so that they can quickly identify the symptoms associated with this gambling-related harm because they come in contact with such people on a regular basis.

The principal directives set out in joint initiative comprises offering rigorous training to the Citizen Advice Debt Advisors so that they can spot and render a helping hand to the suffering people or individuals who are on the verge of problem gambling.

Charity Executives Optimistic About the New Project

Gillian Guy, who is the Citizen Advice’s Chief Executive is having very high aspirations from this two-year project. He is glad that the staff would contribute to making the lives of sufferers better and would bring a significant difference to their lives. People suffering from problem gambling have to suffer through surmountable debts and relationship breakdown.

GambleAware ran a six-year trial with Newport Citizens Advice Gambling Support Service, and it turned out to be highly successful. This two-year partnership between Citizens Advice and GambleAware will look into the problems of gambling addiction and try to minimise it throughout the United Kingdom.
