Some games try to stand out in slot reviews by using unusual themes that we don't typically associate with slots. But Quickspin's Betty Bonkers is an old-timey fruit machine with an aesthetic evoking Las Vegas in the 1950s.
The title character is a Jayne Mansfield-like blonde bombshell who appears as a cowgirl in the base game and dons a slinky red dress for the bonus round, accompanied by music similar to Irving Berlin's ‘Puttin' On The Ritz’.
Whether you play Betty Bonkers for free or for real money, you'll find yourself on a grid that has three reels and, officially, five rows. However, as two of these rows form the ‘Betty's Menu’ special feature, this means that the main playing area is a 3×3 grid with five paylines.

To Spin or Not To Spin?
Betty Bonkers is a successful attempt to fuse a pared-down slot grid with a host of special features. The one downside is that Betty herself is a half-hearted mascot; her animation consists of wobbling back and forth like a cardboard cut-out (a still image would've been preferable), while her text-only catchphrases (such as “That Razzes My Berries!”) are generic fare. Beyond this, the retro aesthetic is very pleasing indeed.
